Snails in Akashi
Second illustration to a haiku by Matsuo Basho, done after Octopus Pot and using aluminum foil as medium onto which the paint is applied later.
As before, the text of haiku is below, and for the sake of avoiding incorrect translations (so far I have found at least two differing versions, which is admittedly not too many as there are some haikus with 6+ variants) this will be romanized Japanese:
katatsuburi
tsuno furiwa keyo
Suma Akashi
Plate itself is linocut, painting oil and aluminum foil. In this example printing press was used to ease the process.
