First Linocut print made in 2017, basically here I was just learning how to do it. One could say that it is better to start with cutting training exercises, but here I will, tactfully, disagree, for it is better to start with doing the project itself and so in making of art piece one will learn how it should be approached.

Kinda Old English is quite fascinating to write in by the way. Anyway, back to the topic.

Here on the image we can see the St. George’s Cathedral in Lviv, Ukraine. In contrast to some other prints made later, this one was made by near directly (of course it is an artistic rendition after all) following the photo I took some time earlier. Name of the work is derived from the two things: street lantern and the cathedral itself.

Perhaps viewer wants to get a full description of the artwork and while it is not hard to do, it would require quite a lengthy text, which in some cases may reduce the feelings evoked by the, in this case, print. Or such a description could be kind of a “guide” to how viewer should “understand” the art piece… and it is not quite how it all should work. All this being said, I will try to keep text part of these posts or pages (it is just so much convenient of a format and besides, I wanted to convert all of the Jetpack powered “Portfolio” posts to standalone pages, collected in a separate page group) and just give the most relevant info.

Fun fact: this page alone is longer than, like, two or three of those “Portfolio” posts I mentioned earlier.
