Rain
This was the winter of 2017, I decided to try the drypoint technique for the first time and what subject is better than achitecture (talking curves and straight lines here)? While the exact building is pretty irrelevant to the topic of this picture, keen historians can find it pretty easily (hint: search for the residences of Russian tsars in Kyiv).
Rain texture is achieved by rubbing sandpaper against the plastic printing plate, clouds are done the same way, but have more pronounced texture enhanced by the use of steel needle.
Funny story about this particular picture is that I somehow managed to accidentally mirror it… and not notice till the first proof prints were done.
See, most of the architectural or landscape prints are done from photo or sketch and they need to be mirrored for the cutting process, all to be mirrored again when printing. While this may be considered a “mistake”on my part, it does add to the general feeling of the artwork, makes it unique in some way.
