One pretty early morning
I've got one cool idea:
"What if I'll make an artwork
On paper… And with oil.
I know what to do."
This wasn't my first attempt,
I did it earlier a time or two,
And knew this had to be an interesting project.
There are two keys for it to be successful,
Two things that one should know:
The first is Speed and second is the Plan…
Without speed one cannot make it work
"In time" i.e. until the self-imposed deadline.
Without plan the work becomes chaotic
And stays in "Work In Progress" state for long…
The paper doesn't like when paint is applied too many times,
Gets wet, pigments detach, the picture blurs.
And yet that very same material will "eat" the oil
So fast you'll have some mere seconds to change your stroke
To "smear" the paint, pick up a hair.
Still there are no clear lines,
Except for where there are some
(I used my marker to "mark" (pardon the pun)
The lines of full-sized sketch)
Colors blend and mesh and blur and match
They dance, they change, they're doing what they should.
How come I did it? What have I used?
Just paper, plain sheet of old and somewhat soft-ish paper.
Put paint down, use brush with gentle bristles
And then just "polish" on this place.
You'll have some seconds more to do all that
And hence why I said "Plan is second key"
You plan on where and when and what should be.
What color, shape, material to use.
Where put some more, where leave it be…
Yet still one question is on table
(While text gets longer more and more…)
Why Map? Because it was "Recursive map" when sketch was made
Then changed to just a map, retaining compass, island
Some cliffs, some buildings and pretty little bay.
